Current Club: Leeds United (Eng)
Representative Honours: Senior, U23, U20
Date of Birth: 22/09/1978
Position: Forward, Midfielder
Previous Clubs: NSW Institute of Sport (Aus)
Comments: Harry Kewell is destined to be a superstar of European football. Currently he plays midfield for Leeds United in the English Premier League. His exploits as an exciting playmaker for Leeds United have earned him the nickname "Jewel", which says much about his talent as a footballer. Harry is rated highly in Australia and Europe due this exceptional skills on the ball and his sixth sense for reading the play of a game. A veteran of Australian senior soccer, Harry was integral member of Australia's 1998 World Cup and Confederation Cup campaigns. Very much a likable lad, Harry has already made public his plans to move to the Italian Serie A when his current contract with Leeds United expires in 2004.

2.
Name: Simon Colosimo
Current Club: Carlton (Aus)
Representative Honours: Senior, U23, U20
Date of Birth: 08/01/1979
Position: Central Defender
Previous Clubs: Australian Institute of Sport (Aus), Victorian Institute of Sport (Aus)
Comments: Contrary to his age, Simon Colosimo has become a regular in the Australian senior lineup due to a maturity beyond his years and the football skills to match. In recent times, Simon has been linked with moves to Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. However, a rash challenge from Andy Cole during a friendly match between Australia and Manchester United has put all Simon's dreams of playing European football on hold due to injury.

3.
Name: Brett Emerton
Current Club: Sydney Olympic (Aus)
Representative Honours: Senior, U23, U20, U17
Date of Birth: 22/02/1979
Position: Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Australian Institute of Sport (Aus)
Comments: Brett Emerton is another youngster that has become a regular in the Australian senior lineup despite his age. Brett is an exciting midfielder that thrives on running at opposition defences. Plays best on the right side of midfield, but he has also played as a part time striker for the Australian national team. There is no doubt Brett will soon head overseas. Brett will most likely make the move to either England or Germany where his silky smooth skills and great acceleration will hold him in good stead.

4.
Name: Hayden Foxe
Current Club: Sanfrecce Hiroshima (Jap)
Representative Honours: Senior, U23, U20
Date of Birth: 15/05/1979
Position: Defender
Previous Clubs: Arminia Bielefeld (Ger), Ajax Amsterdam (Net)
Comments: Hayden Foxe is yet another outstanding young Australian defender. Hayden is a tall and lanky, yet extremely agile defender with heaps of talent. Hayden has already played senior football for a number of big name clubs in Germany and is currently a first string defender for Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the Japan's J League. Very much in the same mould as Australian veteran defender Alex Tobin, Hayden will undoubtedly play a big part in the future of the Australian national team.

5.
Name: Nicholas Rizzo
Current Club: Crystal Palace (Eng)
Representative Honours: Senior, U23, U20
Date of Birth: 09/06/1979
Position: Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Liverpool (Eng), Sydney Olympic (Aus)
Comments: Nick, even at his tender age, is well versed with English and International football. Although his opportunities were limited during his time with Liverpool in the English Premier League, Nick has managed to build a good reputation for himself as a nippy left winger. His style of play in the past has been likened to that of Steve McMannaman. Ironically, it was McMannaman that kept Nick out of the senior lineup during his time at Liverpool. An excellent crosser of the football, since joining Crystal Palace Nick has continued to develop due to more playing time.

6.
Name: Jason Culina
Current Club: Ajax Amsterdam (Net)
Representative Honours: U23, U20
Date of Birth: 08/08/1980
Position: Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Sydney Olympic (Aus), Sydney United (Aus)
Comments: Jason has only recently made the move to Ajax Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where he is still to taste senior football. However, Jason is rated as one of Australia's best central midfield prospects for the future. Jason has the ability to read the game as well as anybody and revels in the role of midfield general.

7.
Name: Michael Petkovic
Current Club: Strasbourg (Fra)
Representative Honours: Senior, U23, U20
Date of Birth: 16/08/1978
Position: Goalkeeper
Previous Clubs: South Melbourne (Aus)
Comments: Australia is renowned for the volume and quality of goalkeepers that the country has produced. Michael Petkovic is no exception. Tall, agile and clever, Michael already has an Australian senior appearance under his belt in spite of the great competition that exists for the spot. Recently signed by Strasbourg in France, the only way is up for this talented young goalkeeper.

8.
Name: Vince Grella
Current Club: Empoli (Ita)
Representative Honours: Senior, U23, U20
Date of Birth: 05/10/1979
Position: Defender
Previous Clubs: Carlton (Aus), Canberra Cosmos (Aus)
Comments: Vince Grella is yet another great youngster to have cut his teeth on football with Carlton Soccer Club in Australia. Vince recently transferred to Empoli in Italy, and has since played a number of senior games in their defence. In fact, his debut with the Empoli senior team he was given the job of marking Zinedine Zidane. Quite an initiation for the young lad from Melbourne. Vince has represented his country at senior level and looks like becoming a regular member of Australia's renowned rugged defence.

9.
Name: Kosta Salapasidis
Current Club: Compostela Segunda (Spa)
Representative Honours: U20, U17
Date of Birth: 01/07/1979
Position: Forward
Previous Clubs: South Melbourne (Aus), Wollongong City (Aus)
Comments: Kosta starred for his home country during the 1995 U-17 World Youth Championship putting a hat-trick past a strong Brazilian team in an unexpected win for Australia. Kosta is only small in stature, however, he is incredible quick and has supreme dribbling skills. Kosta likes nothing better than confounding opposition teams with quick runs through their defences before delightfully slotting goals past incensed goalkeepers. Kosta is currently playing his football in Spain where his acceleration and speed is very much suited.

10.
Name: Mile Sterjovski
Current Club: Parramatta Power (Aus)
Representative Honours: U23, U20, U17
Date of Birth: 27/05/1979
Position: Forward
Previous Clubs: Sydney United (Aus), Australian Institute of Sport (Aus)
Comments: Wollongong born Mile Sterjosvksi is a dynamic striker in the true sense. Blessed with a great burst of speed and a willingness to take on defenders, Mile has been dynamite in front of goal for Sydney United for a number of seasons now. Not tall, but surprising strong Mile is yet to make his senior debut for Australia, but has performed consistently well at all other levels of international football.

11.
Name: Marco Bresciano
Current Club: Empoli (Ita)
Representative Honours: U23, U20
Date of Birth: 11/02/1980
Position: Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Carlton (Aus)
Comments: Although not a high profile Australian footballer, Marco Bresciano has not failed to impress those that have taken the time to see him play. A regular goal scorer during with time with Carlton, Marco is yet to taste senior football with his new club in Italy. Despite his 6' 2" frame, Marco is an agile and skillful player on the ball, and very clever when he doesn't have the ball. If given the time and opportunity to mature, Marco will no doubt be able to build on the promise he has already shown.

12.
Name: Tansel Baser
Current Club: Trabzonspor (Tur)
Representative Honours: U23, U20
Date of Birth: 17/04/1978
Position: Defender
Previous Clubs: South Melbourne (Aus)
Comments: Melbourne born, Tansel Baser is a typically rugged Australian defender, while also being blessed with good skills on the ball. Tansel has built an excellent reputation for professionalism at both club and representative youth levels. Tall enough to be a goalkeeper at 6' 3", Tansel is good at nullifying high crosses that find their way into the defensive square.

13.
Name: Danny Milosevic
Current Club: Perth Glory (Aus)
Representative Honours: U23, U20, U17
Date of Birth: 26/06/1978
Position: Goalkeeper
Previous Clubs: Preussen Muenster (Ger), Arminia Bielefeld (Ger), Canberra Cosmos (Aus)
Comments: Danny has already tasted European football with a number of German clubs but is still yet to reach his full potential. An talented and intuitive goalkeeper, Danny captained the Australian team at the 1997 World Youth Championship in Malaysia. Since in his teens Danny has been rated the one best young goalkeeper in Australia. Now playing his football with the Perth Glory, time will tell what the future holds for Danny.

14.
Name: Lucas Neill
Current Club: Millwall (Eng)
Representative Honours: Senior, U20, U17
Date of Birth: 09/03/1978
Position: Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Queens Park Rangers (Eng), Millwall (Eng)
Comments: Having won a Australian senior team callup and the Millwall Player of the Year award the future for Lucas Neill was looking very bright indeed during the season of 1996/97. However, broken bones in both feet severely hampered his ability to build on his great promise. Lucas is now back playing great football with Millwall in midfield, and seems to have put the disappointment of his injuries behind him.

15.
Name: Joel Griffiths
Current Club: Parramatta Power (Aus)
Representative Honours: U20, U17
Date of Birth: 21/08/1979
Position: Forward
Previous Clubs: Sydney United (Aus)
Comments: Joel is an up and coming goal scorer in the Australian National Soccer League. He has represented Australia at a youth level, most notably in the 1999 World Youth Cup in Nigeria. Still to play his best football for club and country, Joel is certain to develop into top notch goal scorer.

16.
Name: Daniel Watkins
Current Club: Canberra Cosmos (Aus)
Representative Honours: U20, U17
Date of Birth: 08/07/1980
Position: Forward
Previous Clubs: Northern Spirit (Aus), NSW Institute of Sport (Aus)
Comments: Sydney born, Daniel Watkins is tall for his age at 6' 2" and looks to be a good prospect for the future of Australian soccer. If Daniel's performances so far at club and representative levels are anything to go by, he will develop into an exceptional forward with more time on the pitch.

17.
Name: Daniel Allsopp
Current Club: Manchester City (Eng)
Representative Honours: U20, U17
Date of Birth: 10/08/1978
Position: Forward
Previous Clubs: Carlton (Aus), South Melbourne (Aus), Victorian Institute of Sport (Aus)
Comments: Daniel's football career got off to a flying start during the 1995 U17 World Youth Championship, scoring 5 goals to lead the tournament scoring. However, Daniel's football career has seemingly stalled ever since. Having built his reputation as a super-sub with a number of Australian club sides, he transferred to Manchester City in 1998. Undoubtedly a great goal sneak, Daniel possesses an excellent burst of speed and is good in the air as well. Only time will tell if he reaches his full potential. It would be worth the wait if he does.

18.
Name: Ivan Zelic
Current Club: Adelaide Force (Aus)
Representative Honours: U23, U20
Date of Birth: 12/02/1978
Position: Central Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Canberra Cosmos (Aus), Australian Institute of Sport (Aus)
Comments: Ivan is very much a leader on the pitch. Former captain of the Canberra Cosmos, Ivan also captained the Australian youth team at the 1997 World Youth Championship in Malaysia. His performances at club level indicate that he takes his football very seriously. A great reader of the play, Ivan is very good at making things happen when you least expect them. Certainly one young Australian to watch in the future.

19.
Name: Eddy Bosnar
Current Club: Sydney United (Aus)
Representative Honours: U23, U20, U17
Date of Birth: 29/04/1980
Position: Central Defender
Previous Clubs: Northern Spirit (Aus), Sydney United (Aus), Newcastle Breakers (Aus)
Comments: Wise beyond his years, Eddy Bosnar is a noted hard working central defender at club level in the Australian National Soccer League. Eddy has forged an impressive youth football record, having represented Australia at all international youth levels. The fact that Eddy is yet to make his senior debut for his country is perhaps more indicative of Australia's good record at producing top rate defenders than a reflection of his football talents. Eddy is a towering defender at 6' 3" and tough as nails.

20.
Name: Matthew Langdon
Current Club: Northern Spirit (Aus)
Representative Honours: U17
Date of Birth: 02/05/1980
Position: Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Wollongong City (Aus), Australian Institute of Sport (Aus)
Comments: Perhaps the fact that "Langers" was born in Liverpool (Australia) may be a good omen for this talented midfielder. Full of ambition to play for his country, Matthew is a skilled player on the ball. Currently playing with Northern Spirit in Australia he should develop quickly under the guidance of Former Socceroo's Graham Arnold (Coach) and Robbie Slater (Captain).
