1.
Name: Jesper Grønkjær
Current Club: Ajax Amsterdam (Hol)
Date of Birth: 12/08/1977
Position: Attacking Midfielder
Previous Clubs: AaB Aalborg (Den)
Comments: Even though Grønkjær already has 4 caps, he is still the countrys brightest hope for the future. His direct style and the fact that he can play at both the right and left side made him a first team regular last season at Ajax. Has started this season with a foot injury but is expected to be back soon, and ready to make an impact as one of the most creative players at both the Danish national team and at Ajax Amsterdam.
2.
Name: Peter Madsen
Current Club: Brøndby IF (Den)
Date of Birth: 26/04/1978
Position: Forward / Attacking Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Roskilde (Den)
Comments: Won the Danish talent award for the season 98/99. One of the fastest players in the Danish league who can play as a striker but also as an attacking midfielder. One of the regular strikers at the Danish U-21 team, and without a doubt the future striker of the national team. He still needs some work on his "teamwork" ability and his temper that gives him too many bookings. But no matter what he has an extraordinary talent both with and without the ball.
3.
Name: Martin Smith
Current Club: Brøndby IF (Den)
Date of Birth: 30/06/1978
Position: Left Wing / Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Glostrup (Den)
Comments: A regular left midfielder at the Danish U-21 team, but plays as the left wing at his team Brøndby. Had his first team debut last season and with some impressive performances he kept the place from the start of the new season. Mainly because of injuries at regular and more experienced players. But when they are back they will face an almost impossible task to force Martin back onto the bench.
4.
Name: Iddi Alkhag
Current Club: Esbjerg fB (Den)
Date of Birth: 17/08/1978
Position: Striker
Previous Clubs: ?
Comments: A very consistent goalscorer who has already been in the frame at some of the bigger European clubs. Impressive because he has only played in the second best league in Denmark. But now with last seasons promotion he has the chance to really prove to the rest of the country that he is indeed one of the most talented strikers at this moment. Started well with a goal in the first game, but a long term injury has kept him on the side for a while.
5.
Name: Jesper Håkansson
Current Club: Heerenveen (Hol)
Date of Birth: 14/08/1981
Position: Attacking Midfielder
Previous Clubs: BK Frem (Den)
Comments: Made his U-21 debut at the 3rd of September. The third youngest player to make it to that level at that early an age. Only outdone by Sunderland's Thomas Sørensen and now retired Michael Laudrup. Jesper has a bright future ahead of him. Both at the national team and at one of the biggest European clubs. He spent a succesfull trial spell at none other than Manchester United but chose the smaller club of Heerenveen because he was told that he would be given the chance of first team football. And he was! He scored at his debut at Amsterdam Arena against Ajax.
6.
Name: Jimmy Nielsen
Current Club: AaB Aalborg (Den)
Date of Birth: 06/08/1977
Position: Goalkeeper
Previous Clubs: Millwall (Eng)
Comments: Jimmy was at an early age at English club Millwall. But he returned home to Aalborg and AaB for the chance of first team football. And he has been one of the top goalkeepers in Denmark for the last couple of years. Was voted "Goalkeeper of the year" last season and was linked to clubs as Aston Villa and Newcastle, but he decided to stay at AaB. Though he still sees his future abroad. And probably in England. At this moment it's only a matter of time and the right offer. Faces a giant task in the future. The battle with Sunderland no. 1, Thomas Sørensen for the Danish national team no. 1 jersey when Peter Schmeichel retires.
7.
Name: Claus Jensen
Current Club: Bolton Wanderers (Eng)
Date of Birth: 29/04/1977
Position: Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Lyngby FC (Den)
Comments: A regular at Bolton Wanderers' midfield and a regular member of the Danish U-21 team. Though he has turned 22. It's only a matter of time before he makes the jump to the national team. Always reliable and strong performances at the central midfield for Bolton has recently linked him with Liverpool. But the best thing would probably be to stay for a couple of more season at Bolton and hopefully get some Premier League experience with them before joining a bigger club.
8.
Name: Brian Priske
Current Club: AaB Aalborg (Den)
Date of Birth: 14/05/1977
Position: Right Winger
Previous Clubs: Aarhus Fremad (Den)
Comments: A very strong right wing defender but has also some impressive offensive qualities. Bought by AaB as a squad addition last season from the bottom club Aarhus Fremad. But he very quickly made an impact and became a regular starter at last seasons championship winning side. Still at the U-21 team but is the most obvious choice as the right wing in the near future at the Danish national team.
9.
Name: Mads Jørgensen
Current Club: AGF (Den)
Date of Birth: 10/02/1979
Position: Attacking Midfielder
Previous Clubs: ?
Comments: A very talented attacking midfielder who has a wonderful technique and can shoot the ball very hard. Has been mentioned to be a part of the Danish national teams new "brothers". After the Laudrup brothers.
His older brother is Martin Jørgensen who plays for Italian side Udinese and already has 20 caps for Denmark.
10.
Name: Peter Løvenkrands
Current Club: AB Copenhagen (Den)
Date of Birth: 29/01/1980
Position: Forward
Previous Clubs: ?
Comments: One of the fastest players in Denmark right now. And most important of all. Fast both with and without the ball. Has one problem that could mean that he will never become a star player at the top level. Only 19 years old but he has had more seroius injuries than most older players. If that keeps up he will have to settle for a place in the game that his talent exceeds.
11.
Name: Christian Traoré
Current Club: KB Copenhagen (Den)
Date of Birth: ??/??/19??
Position: Defender
Previous Clubs: ?
Comments: Given the nickname "Mini-Thuram" by the Danish press. One of the most talented defenders in many, many years. Will probably make the jump to top level football in Denmark next season. Most likely the Danish Super League club FC Copenhagen. His current club KB is FC Copenhagen's reserve/youth team and plays at non-league level.
12.
Name: Tom Christensen
Current Club: AGF (Den)
Date of Birth: ??/01/1982
Position: Striker
Previous Clubs: ?
Comments: Tom is a real "target man" in the penalty box. He's very physical strong and has a kind of frightening apperance to the defenders. Still very young but is a man for the future. Looked set to make his first team debut this season, but a serious injury has put him on the sidelines for the next 6-8 months. Won the U-18 talent award last season.
13.
Name: Thomas Bælum
Current Club: AaB Aalborg (Den)
Date of Birth: 05/06/1978
Position: Central Defender
Previous Clubs: ?
Comments: Strong central defender who reads the game really well. Also very strong man to man and have some promising offensive qualities as well. A regular at the Danish U-21 team and one of the countrys biggest defensive hopes for the future.
14.
Name: Allan K. Jepsen
Current Club: Heerenveen (Hol)
Date of Birth: 04/07/1977
Position: Defensive Midfielder
Previous Clubs: AGF (Den), Hamburger SV (Ger)
Comments: 22 but still a regular U-21 player. Allan has already played regular at three sides. Though he started this season outside of the first 11 at Hamburg and made the move to Dutch side Heerenveen. He's an allrounder who can play both as a central defender and in the midfield.
15.
Name: Dennis Rommedahl
Current Club: PSV Eindhoven (Hol)
Date of Birth: 22/07/1978
Position: Attacking Midfielder
Previous Clubs: Gladsaxe, B93 Copenhagen, Lyngby FC, RKC Waalwijk (Loan)
Comments: Dennis is a very talented attacking midfielder. Still young but is very often in the team at PSV. Has played in the Champoions League both this year and also last season, where he scored one goal.
16.
Name: Christian Magleby
Current Club: Lyngby FC (Den)
Date of Birth: 08/06/1977
Position: Attacking Midfielder
Previous Clubs: ?
Comments: Left Midfielder. Very quick and technical talented. He has already scored 5 goals this season. Has one problem though. If the team doesn't play well. He doesn't play well and that is something he has to work on. Because he has the qualities to lift the rest of the team in the tough situations.
17.
Name: Morten Hyldgaard
Current Club: Coventry City (Eng)
Date of Birth: 26/01/1978
Position: Goalkeeper
Previous Clubs: Ikast fS (Den)
Comments: Was the no. 1 goalkeeper at the age of 19 and made the move to English Premier League side Coventry this season. Still Gordon Strachan has not given him the chance. Pretty strange since he's regarded as one of the strongest of the many talented goalkeepers Denmark has.
18.
Name: Lars Jacobsen
Current Club: OB Odense (Den)
Date of Birth: 20/09/1979
Position: Central Defender
Previous Clubs: ?
Comments: Had at the age of 20 already played about 60 games at first team level. A regular central defender at the Danish U-21 and probably one of the future defenders at the Danish national team.
19.
Name: Allan Borgvardt
Current Club: AGF (Den)
Date of Birth:
Position: Attacking Midfielder / Forward
Previous Clubs: 05/06/1980
Comments: Made his first team debut last season and made an instant impact. Can play both as an attacking midfielder and also very strong in the penalty box. Has an extraordinary technique and is a good header.
20.
Name: Martin Albrechtsen
Current Club: AB Copenhagen (Den)
Date of Birth: 31/03/80
Position: Defender
Previous Clubs: ?
Comments: A Very promising player who was brought into first team football last season because of injuries at the regular players. He took the chance and has establised himself as a regular in one of the moments top sides in Danish football.
