Comment: Already a regular in the Senior national team (24 caps), although still in under -21 age. Second season in Bundesliga, where he is normally one of the best of his team. Quite emotional/passionate player with impressive statistics. Scored 8 goals in his last Swiss season before joining Bundesliga.

3.
Name: Oumar Kondé (Swi)
Current Club: SC Freiburg (Ger)

5.
Name: Patrick Müller (Swi)
Current Club: Grasshoppers Zürich
Date of Birth: 17/12/1976
Position: Defense
Previous Clubs: Juventus Torino (Ita) & Servette Geneva
Comment: Started as forward. Made impressive debut in Senior Swiss squad with a superb goal against Yugoslavia. Was then bought by Juventus and loaned to Servette and Grasshoppers respectively. Tall and flexible. Took-over the libero role from Ciriaco Sforza for an international game and has since progressed in that role.

6.
Name: Rainer Bieli (Swi)
Current Club: Neuchatel Xamax
Date of Birth: 22/02/1979
Position: Midfield
Previous Clubs: Grasshoppers Zürich & Baden
Comment: Considered an outstanding player, he has still to show his real talent. Regular for under 21 team anyway.

7.
Name: Bernt Haas (Swi)
Previous Clubs: Grasshoppers Zürich
Date of Birth: 08/04/1978
Position: Defender
Previous Clubs: Wollerau
Comment: Quick and fast. Couldn't handle pressure when he was to play outstanding role in club and national team. Already season number 5 in first team football.

8.
Name: Ricardo Cabanas (Swi)
Current Club: Grasshoppers Zürich
Date of Birth: 17/01/1979
Position: Midfield
Previous Clubs: None
Comment: One more of the talented Zürich young players. Will probably get his first Senior international call-up this year. Intelligent player with free kick specials. Is also coaching Grasshoppers youth team (under 16)!

9.
Name: Stéphane Grichting (Swi)
Current Club: Sion
Date of Birth: 30/03/1979
Position: Striker
Previous Clubs: None
Comment: Was an outshining player of a poor Sion team last season. Hunted by top clubs but decided to stay to play 2nd division football. Could be transfered in winter break. Still to improve his scoring statistics.

10.
Name: Hakan Yakin (Swi)
Current Club: Grasshoppers Zürich
Date of Birth: 21/02/1977
Position: Forward
Previous Clubs: Basel & St. Gallen
Comment: Younger brother of Swiss star Murat with same talents. Still too many ups and downs. Has to settle after he is now too old for under 21 team. Although national manager is not a friend of his, will he star after Stephan Chapuisat's retreat?

11.
Name: Gerardo Seoane (Swi)
Current Club: Deportivo Coruña (Spa)
Date of Birth: 30/10/1978
Position: Center forward
Previous Clubs: Sion & Lucerne
Comment: Seoane is a regular in the under 21 team. Is a bit out of sight while playing for Coruña reserve team after turning to his Spanish roots.Typical center forward.

12.
Name: Sebastien Roth (Swi)
Current Club: Solothurn
Date of Birth 01/04/1978
Position: Goalkeeper
Previous Clubs: None
Comment: Is playing his third successive season as number 1 in small second division club. Sad but true, young goalkeepers have a long way to go in Swiss championship. Made his name as penalty-killer in last season's cup matches. Has possibly to wait for the retreat of older keepers to become a number one in a first division side.
